Ray’s Take: Episode 4 “Babel”

I’m pretty sure that the alternate working title was “O’Brien’s Bad Day.” Cardassian technology reeks compared to Fed Tech. Odo and Quark are always a win.
Fun Fact: 120 degrees of the Promenade actually existed.
Dax and Kira are too cute for words.
There are far too many parallels in this episode and the current pandemic: Quarantined. Close the bars. Mutating virus. Essential services. All far too familiar.
This episode demonstrates how vital the ability to communicate is.
I’ve had conversations with someone who was talking in her sleep. She abruptly sat up and started talking gibberish.

After a moment of confusion I said, “You’re asleep, aren’t you?”
“Of course I am,” she said, tossed her hair and collapsed back into a deep sleep, leaving me awake and confused.
I want to see Quark teach Odo how to gamble.
Bashir and the computer foreshadow Stark and Jarvis.
So, transporter kidnapping is a thing.
“Fire control systems don’t seem to be working” was a bit of an understatement as the ship was on fire. FUEGO!
Team Odo and Quark to the rescue.
Ultimately, vaccination saves the day and restores normalcy.
Star Trek medicine would be awful for doctors. Human biological diversity is challenging enough. Throw in aliens and interspecies breeding and exotic environments, the mind boggles. I wonder how many STDs have the designation JTK…
