Ray’s Take on Episode 16: “The Forsaken “
We are introduced to Ambassador Karen long before Karens became a thing.
I’m not going to say much about Majel Barrett, I figure our more Trek literate watchers will handle that. I could wax on about Lwaxana Troi, but will defer that as well. But she was with Star Trek the entire time, even voicing the ship’s computer in the 2009 reboot. I know she died in 2008 but all of her speaking bits had been recorded before she passed so they ended up using them anyway.
O’Brien really hates Cardassians AND their technology. Subtle that the computer voice is what clues him into the issue given that Majel Barrett did the computer voice for most of Trek.

“Love in an Elevator” – Aerosmith. Lol. Seriously, the interaction between the two was really quite touching and not played for comedy, even though Lwaxana is an outrageously over the top character.
The Engineer says “might” again. I previously stated that would mean trouble. And, as usual, the Fire Suppression Systems fail, again. Why even bother with having them unless everything is so flaming flammable or inflammable that THIS is an improvement?…
(I know, it adds to the drama, I get that. But, really, again?)
So, there’s this really old movie called 2001:A Space Odyssey where a guy has to take down a malfunctioning computer named HAL (the letters are not one ahead of IBM on purpose, either), and so…
A visit by the UnFun Committee is never fun, by design and definition. It’s nice to see Bashir save the day and win the respect of those stuck up Ambassadors. Even Ambassador Karen…
