Ray’s Take on Episode 15: “If Wishes Were Horses”
I, for one, think that Quark’s vision of a Ferengi Disney theme park would truly be a magical adventure. Fun for the whole family!
“Please refrain from using your imaginations”- priceless. Poor Odo.
Bashir gets friend zoned hard by Dax, being reminded that she too was a young man once should be unsettling, I would think.
Quark has exquisite taste in fantasies, in my opinion.
Always pay attention when the Engineer says “might” or “should”. It rarely leads to expected outcomes. I should keep a running total of the number of times “might” usage leads to Very Bad Things.

Dax has a killer imagination, literally.
There is a theory that reality is a mutually consensual hallucination that is surprisingly democratic in nature. The more people that expect a certain reality ensures that that reality manifests and endures. Quark runs up against that theory pretty hard.
Science has figured out that most of our actions are routine firings of electrochemical reactions. Any random misfiring generates an action that we justify after the fact and reference our own memory to convince ourselves that we meant to do that. So, there’s no such thing as imagination, just random biochemistry.
But ancient civilization saw things differently. Call it a Muse or the Voice of God, the thing that fired our Imagination was contact with a higher reality. Inspiration in Latin and Old French literally meant “Divine Breath”. Just a little tidbit this episode got me to pondering…
