Becca’s Take on Episode 13: “Storyteller”

Okay, wait, hold up: Doctor Bashir is a superior officer to O’Brien??? Okay, so I know I’ve finally come around to liking Doctor Bashir, but come on! That’s just not fair. I can see why O’Brien is annoyed with him (despite his assertions to the contrary). I kind of hope they become friends though, I think O’Brien would be a good influence on him!

On a very unrelated note, seeing Bajor again, I am inclined to wonder why there is no Star Trek theme park with different planets and rides and essentially a monorail (that is shaped like the Enterprise) taking you between the planets. Just a thought, if I had the money to fund such an operation I’d do it because who wouldn’t want to go to Quark’s in real life?

I feel bad for the leader of the Paqu, who is just trying her best. I do love that she threw a drink in Quark’s face. She’s not a little lady, she’s a tetrarch! I like that she is strong. Awwww, she’s going to hang out with Jake and Nog! That’s really adorable, I love it. This friendship is truly adorable, and I love that she listens to and appreciates Nog. Also the bucket prank was pretty funny, until Odo showed up. Now, I want to know if he actually looks like oatmeal in his liquid form!

Varis standing up for the boys is such a sweet moment. I want Varis to be a regular character and part of their little squad. I know she can’t be, you know with her being the tetrarch of the Paqu and all. But I want it, I want their little group to be bigger and have mini adventures like this all the time.

O’Brien is now a leader of a tribe, sort of? The one who needs to stop the Dal’Rak. I don’t think it’s real, also oh no the apprentice tried to kill O’Brien!!! I can see why, but also yikes, don’t shoot the messenger – I mean, storyteller! “Once upon a time, there was a Dal’Rak” O’Brien is hilarious!

Some additional observations:

Why did people stop playing baseball? It’s America’s pastime!

Odo’s little smile when he shoo’s Varis and Jake and Nog away from dangling on the promenade is just amazing!

Odo lives in a bucket?

Doctor Bashir gives an inspirational speech, and that’s actually kind of nice.

That’s all I have for now! I’d love to see more O’Brien/Julian adventures, they balance each other in a way I didn’t really expect (even if it’s silly that Bashir is his senior officer).

Signing off,

Ensign Becca
